It seems that my habits for posting to this blog are less habits and more failed New Years resolutions, with posts averaging to about once a year. This year, however, I am substantially overhauling my online presence, starting with social media and branching into new and creative venues, and this, the half-month of January, is the perfect time to alert everyone to these upcoming changes.
You might notice, for instance, that there are fewer posts than the last time you visited this blog, or maybe it's been so long that you don't remember how many posts there were, or maybe this is the first time you've visited the blog. The point is, as part of the online presence overhaul, I am changing the focus of the content of my posts. That means cleansing the site of the old, which focused on my day-to-day activities (kind of egotistical, and really defeats the purpose of having a facebook account); and starting with the new, focusing on the bassoon's role in much of Western music. As this will be a work in progress, any feedback you might have for me will be much appreciated.
Another project I am working on is a brand new website, which is still in the development stage. I've been working hard on making it look and function just right, so it will be an exciting addition when it is finished. I will keep everyone appraised of when the grand opening will commence, stay tuned for details.
So a question for all of you: what sorts of things are you most curious about the bassoon? What do you most want to read about as far as the bassoon is concerned? The next few blog posts will be about the bassoon's role in specific pieces, but I also want to appease your curiosity and to generate excitement about the instrument I am most passionate about. Let me know in the comments what you think. I look forward to a great new year ahead!
Happy 2013!!
